Biography
Boldizsár Kovács is a Hungarian percussionist with an ever-growing musical curiosity that has contributed to a multifaceted, constantly evolving career. He is a graduate of the Juilliard School, having studied with Daniel Druckman, Markus Rhoten and Greg Zuber. With a special interest in contemporary chamber music, he embraces the power of collaboration, frequently commissioning new works from composers.
Boldizsár is equally at home in the orchestra, having performed at venues like Carnegie Hall, Suntory Hall or the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. He has played under the batons of David Robertson, Manfred Honeck, Barbara Hannigan and Tito Munoz among others. He has been a participant of the Pacific Music Festival, Texas Music Festival, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra's youth orchestra program.
Boldizsár's recent performance highlights include world premieres by leading composers of our time, such as Augusta Read Thomas or Terry Riley; recent performances with members of the New York Philharmonic; and a collaboration with the New York Choreographic Institute.
Boldizsár currently lives in Budapest, where he teaches at a music school and participates in the Hungarian classical music scene as a freelance artist.
